Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Hidalgo County Criminal History, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be disclosed. Continued use of the website indicates acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

Terms entered in a search tool are delivered to the outside provider that operates it. The provider processes the request and returns its result. Hidalgo County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be kept so a response can be provided. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers may receive routine technical details whenever a page loads.

  • Device IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device type
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • Referring website, when available
  • Date and time of each page request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that support traffic measurement and help show which pages are useful. Analytics providers may combine visits into aggregate reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

Collected information supports operation and improvement of the service.

  • Maintaining speed, availability, and core functions
  • Routing a search request to the selected partner
  • Understanding which content visitors use
  • Finding and repairing technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Hidalgo County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official sources, including Hidalgo County clerks and the sheriff, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a report about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. A partner's own privacy terms govern information entered in its tool, including retention and disclosure choices. Those practices are outside our control, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to courts, law-enforcement agencies, Texas government pages, legal-aid resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's policy applies. Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be disclosed to these recipients when needed.

  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Analytics providers measuring site performance
  • Advertising networks serving material on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can promise absolute security, and this policy does not guarantee that an unauthorized event can never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.

Your Data Rights

Rights vary by location and applicable law. Texas public-record access is governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while criminal-history dissemination is addressed in Government Code Chapter 411. Where the law applies, a person may be able to:

  • Request a copy of personal information held about them
  • Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
  • Request deletion of covered information
  • Opt out of certain processing activities
